‘Listening, Confidentiality and Acknowledgment of Abuse – Survivors Voices’
The event will take the form of awareness sessions and workshops bringing together support workers, carers and abuse survivors on the subject of confidentiality and acknowledgement of abuse.
The conference programme will be available in the delegates’ pack on the day of the conference. The day is divided into two parts with the first short session featuring a report from the outcome of a consultation on the National Confidential Forum (NCF) and two key note speakers:
Laurie Matthew, UK Manager, Eighteen and Under: Long Term Experience Working with Ritual Abuse Survivors and 30 years of experience supporting survivors.
Sarah Nelson, Research Associate, Centre for Research on Families and Relationships, University of Edinburgh, with long term research interests in CSA, mental health and ritual abuse.
The next session will focus on four workshops:
- Young survivors’ voices
- Ethnic minority survivors’ voices
- LGBT survivors’ voices
- Mental health survivors’ voices
The conference will close at 1.00 pm followed by lunch and networking.
