I am a facilitator for Cedar and there is some uncertainty in my mind about when a woman or child is in ‘recovery’ from domestic abuse i.e. would access Cedar rather than Women’s Aid. Can you offer any clarity that would be useful to take to the advisory board meeting tomorrow.
I think it’s important for us to be aware that everyone’s journey will be unique, and where there are similarities in experience, recovery can look very different for different people.
Therefore we work alongside children and mothers to jointly assess their readiness for group.
The page reference for this in the Framework is p.29 – 47. This section includes the assessment process, key language used, what happens at each stage, what happens if Cedar isn’t right/appropriate and how this is recorded. There are assessment tools on p. 77/78.
