We are looking for your advice again. Margaret and I are going through the Mother’s manual and trying to summarise it for folders for co-facilitators and have noticed that the term ‘Women’s Abuse’ is used a lot throughout the sessions. Is this something we have to stick to or can we insert domestic abuse instead?
The term ‘women’s abuse’ is used to describe the range of abuse experienced under the heading of domestic abuse. It’s basically a short version. It’s absolutely fine to also refer to domestic abuse. The only phrase we would caution you away from is referring to domestic violence, as it reinforced the perception that abuse is just physical abuse, and negates to explain the range of other tools a perpetrator may use.
